Good news! The new March 2001 release of AirplanePDQ started shipping last
Friday, March 30th. Here's a final list of the major new or improved features in
this new version.
SUPPORT FOR NEW CONFIGURATIONS
Multi-engine (push-pull or side-by-side)
Biplanes
3 surface designs (canard, main wing, and horizontal stabilizer)
Tail-less aircraft/Flying wings
Wing-tip vertical stabilizers
Support for stabilators and flaperons
NEW ANALYSIS CAPABILITIES
Propeller performance analysis
Forward CG limit calculation
Improved aerodynamic modeling
Support for engine thrust lines away from the CG (e.g. pylon mounted engines)
New performance charts and detailed performance report
Additional weight estimation algorithms and a new weight estimate comparison
report comparing estimates from all of the different algorithms
OTHER IMPROVEMENTS
Editable front view of fuselage
Fuel tanks in fuselage
Smoother installation with automatic update from previous versions
Optimized CAD code for faster execution
CG and CG limits indicators on drawings
New context menu for editing aircraft component properties
Significantly expanded airfoil library with 125 different airfoil sections
PDF AirplanePDQ users manual for higher quality hardcopy
